Ingredients
  

Ground Beef
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 head butter or romaine lettuce, leaves separated
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
  • Lime wedges for serving

Method
 

  1. Prepare all ingredients by chopping the onion, mincing the garlic, and dicing the red bell pepper. Separate and wash the lettuce leaves.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion for 3-4 minutes until translucent, then add minced garlic and diced red bell pepper, cooking for another 2 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks. Stir until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sriracha, ground ginger, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. Spoon the beef mixture into lettuce leaves and top with shredded carrots, chopped green onions, and cilantro. Serve with lime wedges.
