Hash Browns
  • 2 pounds frozen hash browns Thawed for even cooking.
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter Melted.
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 10.5 ounces cream of chicken soup Adds flavor and moisture.
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese The star ingredient.
  • 0.5 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup crushed cornflakes Optional for topping.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter Optional for drizzling over cornflakes.

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, break apart thawed hash browns and ensure they are well-separated.
  3. Add melted butter, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix until well combined.
  4. Spread the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. If using, sprinkle crushed cornflakes on top and drizzle melted butter over them.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
