- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, break apart thawed hash browns and ensure they are well-separated.
- Add melted butter, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Spread the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. If using, sprinkle crushed cornflakes on top and drizzle melted butter over them.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
