Ingredients

Ground Beef
  • 2 pounds ground beef provides protein and a savory base
  • 1 medium onion, diced adds sweetness and depth to the flavor
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced brings a wonderful aroma and taste
  • 4 cups potatoes, thinly sliced creates a hearty layer that absorbs all the flavors
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese adds creaminess and a deliciously gooey texture
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup provides a rich, creamy sauce that binds everything together
  • 1 cup milk helps to thin the soup and adds creaminess
  • 1 teaspoon salt enhances all the flavors in the dish
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper adds a subtle kick
  • 1 teaspoon paprika gives a hint of smokiness and color
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano adds an earthy flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder boosts the garlic flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder complements the fresh onion
  • 1 cup frozen peas (optional) adds a pop of color and nutrition
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish) adds freshness and a nice touch of color

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • 9x13 inch baking dish

Method

  1. Prep your ingredients by washing and peeling the potatoes, slicing them thinly, dicing the onion, and mincing the garlic.
  2. In a large skillet, heat over medium heat. Add the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, half of the cooked beef mixture, and half of the creamy soup mixture. If using peas, sprinkle half of them now. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  4. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 45 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Let the casserole cool for about 5-10 minutes before serving.
